 Every month, we will select one of our members who - in our opinion - deserves to be in the spotlights because of their talent and skills. This member will be featured on our home page until the start of the new month.            On The Spot Who is your all-time favorite celebrity and why?I have to choose Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park! There is something special about him! Would you like to be a celebrity yourself?Hmmm… good question. Sometimes yes, sometimes no… I think being a celeb has both advantages and disadvantages. But I think all of us sometimes dream and wonder of how it would feel to become a famous celebrity! Who is your favorite celebrity to draw and which celebrity's portrait would you never draw?Jessica Alba is definitely my favorite celebrity to draw! She is just perfect! And I would probably never draw a portrait of Tila Tequila; she is one celebrity who constant cries for attention! And I don't like that sort of people. Which talent that you don't have, is the one you wished you had?For some reason, I have wished my whole life that I was able to sing. My singing voice is terrible! I feel sorry for those who sometimes have to hear my singing voice.  Which type of art do you prefer?Black-and-white digital portraits! No doubt! Have you ever tried out a particular type of art and failed miserably?Hahaha, yeah… It was a homework assignment when I went to art school. We were commissioned to paint a landscape with oils. I have to admit, I HATE to draw or paint anything with nature. My teacher never got to see the finished result, and perhaps he was lucky that I never showed the painting because otherwise he would probably have been crying. Who or what influenced you to start drawing?Well, I have painted ever since I was a small kid. But I think it really took off when I started to watch the kid cartoons like Pokemon, Sailor Moon, and so on. Describe your creative process to the readers (e.g., how do you choose a subject, how do you start a portrait, what keeps you focused, how do you know when to call a portrait done, etc.).Hmm… Before I start with a portrait, it's always nice to feel that you have inspiration! The inspiration can be anything! A celebrity from a movie I recently watched, a celebrity magazine, or a character from a video game! Sometimes it's hard to stay focused on the same drawing, but then I have to take a break, and try to go back to the source of the inspiration. I can't really answer how I know when a portrait is finished. It is just something you feel. When I'm feeling proud of what I see, then it's done! What is the last movie you saw?"Silence Of The Lambs"! Great movie! Which song or album can't you stop listening to at the moment?Linkin Park's new single "Burn It Down"! May's Celebrity of the Month
This month's featured celebrity is Zooey Deschanel, American actress (she plays the role of Jessica Day in the sitcom "New Girl", and has also starred in many movies such as "(500) Days of Summer", "Yes Man", and "Your Highness"), musician, and singer-songwriter.
Changes
You may have noticed that we are changing the Celebrity of the Month procedure a bit, in the hopes of making it more appealing (since, generally, we never receive more than ten entries, sometimes even less than three). Starting next month, the Celebrity of the Month will no longer be an individual actor/actress, musician, character, etc. Instead, you will be able to vote for a category of celebrities and submit portraits of all the celebrities who belong to that category. For example, if the category "Celebrity Vampires" were to receive the majority of the votes, you would be able to submit portraits of Edward Cullen from "Twilight", Selene from "Underworld", Barnabas Collins from "Dark Shadows", Lestat de Lioncourt from "Interview With The Vampire", and so on. At the end of the month, the best submissions will be featured (the number of winners depending on the number of entries we received).
This does not mean that we will never have an individual Celebrity of the Month again. We're going to try out the new procedure a few times; if it turns out to be a success, we'll keep it - if not, we'll go back to the way it was, or maybe come up with an entirely new concept instead. As always, your feedback will be greatly appreciated!
